Restaurant charges customer twice after they ask to remake a dish because it had eggs in it, customer refuses to pay altogether: ‘The menu did not list eggs’

How many times have you had to send your dish back or ask to remake it because what you got was not what you asked for?

We've all probably had to do it a few times, and some of us feel more comfortable doing it than others. Everyone makes mistakes, especially in restaurants, so everyone finds themselves being served a dish that is not quite what they ordered, and if you want it fixed, the only way to do it is by asking.

If a restaurant makes a mistake, the right thing to do is for them to apologize and make it right; that is the bare minimum most customers expect when they flag down an error to a server. Even if it makes you uncomfortable to complain, you usually know that the server wants you to leave the establishment happy, and they would do what it takes to ensure that happens. Especially if they were the ones making a mistake in the first place.

When the customer in the story below ordered a dish in a Thai restaurant, they carefully read the ingredients of every dish before they placed their order. However, when they got their food, they were surprised to see the dish had eggs in it, even though eggs were not listed in the ingredient list. Since this customer does not eat eggs, they explained the situation to the server and asked them to remake the dish, without eggs this time. The server complied without another word and came back with a brand new dish, one that had only the ingredient listed in the menu.

The customer was sure that the problem was fixed, but when the bill came, they saw that the restaurant had charged them twice for the same dish. When they confronted the server about it, they learned it was not another mistake, and that the restaurant fully expects them to pay for the remaking of the food.
